Why do I paint?
I have asked myself this question many times.
Since early childhood I had this need to 'play with colours' and create beautiful images and later this became an almost obsessive quest for aesthetic perfection. I think it has to do with my need to focus on the positive in life rather than the ordinary, mundane, trivial, sad, that surrounds us. For me, and probably for many of my art buyers, art is simply... an escape into an utopian world.

It is a bit like escaping in an imaginary, perfect world, in which there is no bad, ugly, ordinary boring, sad...And sharing it with other people, inviting others in it... It is offering some comfort, some therapy, some hope - as a canvas has the magic powers to capture the beauty of a subject and freeze it in time for hundreds of years. Perhaps this is my modest attempt at trying to reach a little piece of eternity...

My art is a celebration of nature, and the wonders of it, the colours, the textures, the contrasts, the music of light, the whispering of the wind, the perpetual dance of ocean waves. It is trying to immortalize amazing plants, animals, and paying respect to almighty skies with their huge palette of weathers, and ultimately, embracing life, love and harmony, instead of war, chaos and destruction. As this magnificent planet, which gave birth to us all is now in such desperate need of our tender loving care and appreciation. We all need now tender moments and serenity more than ever..

In a world where there is so much suffering, largely caused by man and inflicted on his other fellow men, I simply try to offer a little olive branch -. a 'chill pill' if you wish. I don't declare war through my artworks, like some artists do and don't believe in torturing my audience with dark depressing visions ... And if I have haunting nightmares I never burden the canvas with them. My philosophy often reflected in my art is: see the positive, the silver lining in every cloud - spread the love, respect life, respect the living.
